A Christmas Carol also stars Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Robin Wright Penn and Cary Elwes.
Jim Carrey on the similarities between playing the Grinch and Scrooge: "It is odd that I've ended up playing these two iconic Christmas-haters, but I think it's kind of the same story in a way. It really is, you know, Scrooge is the original Grinch. And so, I think I'm perfectly suited, because I have had some dark Christmas's, you know, where I wasn't so happy about everything. Of course, I've had some of the greatest ever as well."
Jim Carrey on voicing so many characters in this film: "Every character you do is a baby, you know, you can't choose between them, you know? If you do, you didn't do your job, you know? So you've got to fall in love with every character. You know, I just felt so lucky to be able to do such a wide range of work within the same project."
Jim Carrey on who Scrooge is: "You know, I think Scrooge is abandoned. He's a child who's abandoned. I always think, the only thing we have to beware of in this world is the unloved. And that's where it all comes from. So Scrooge started out there and trying desperately for a long time to cling to whatever's good and his sister and the things that he cares about, but slowly being disappointed by life over and over again."
Director Robert Zemeckis on working with Jim Carrey: "Well the great thing about the process of working in this medium and having Jim play these, all these different characters is we would do a scene with the ghost and then Jim would do Scrooge's side and then he would get an idea as Scrooge and be able to hop back and do the ghost and we were able to just refine the scenes back and forth and, I mean, and it was just, it was just great and to have a, have an actor like Jim who's so versatile and is always think was just great."
